Tulppio has its’ name in Finnish forest history. Tulppio was the scene of the first mechanised logging areas in Finland. In the beginning of 20th centyry the local forest director, Hugo Sandberg, ordered two steam trains from America. They were taken in parts from Rovaniemi to Tulppio (300 km!). One of the trains is still left in Tulppio as a reminder of the forest history. In Tulppio situates also the legendary restaurant called Tulppion Tisko.
